Welcome to my Blog-erhood

For the past month and a half, my good friend Amir Cohen has been teaching a free HTML class at his office after work on Wednesdays. At first, I was apprehensive. Why do I need to go to class one night a week?? I could just ask him in a really nice way to help me!! I was won over by Pavla, who said that it was indeed quite fun, complete with games and humor (CollegeHumor… hehe). While I probably only understood about 10% of what he taught us each class, our six week stint is over, and what do I have to show for it? A REDESIGNED BLOG!!

So far, the redesign has been quite a success! I even got a “famous friend” to claim he’ll subscribe.

Kudos to Diana for taking the cartwheel photos, which left me a bit sore for days.

So, while I’m still a little sad that PT Anderson and There Will Be Blood weren’t the Best Director/Picture combo this year, I would like to mention that Christine is such an intense and loyal Javier Bardem fan, that she took photos of him on her iphone while Regis interviewed him. So, I’m fairly indifferent towards Valentines Day, but I L.O.V.E. those girls who are so anti valentines day, that they go so far as to wear all black on Valentines Day.  Because the fact that they very loudly tell everyone within ear range that they think its a totally commercial holiday made to make single people feel bad about themselves wasn’t quite enough for me to get the point. Its like wearing a sign that says “I am bitter and totally undateable. Also, I probably have a lot of cats”.

I’ve been eyeing the women in my office all day trying to pick out who is going to be that girl tomorrow… there are a few front runners.

While reading this article in Gawker this morning, I was reminded of a more simple time in my life, when I was 4, and my favorite TV show was Batman. Now, we’re not talking about the bullshit animated Batman that my little brother used to watch, we’re talking Adam West/Burt Ward Batman, complete with POWs! and BAMs!

Basically, when I was little, my dad used to travel a lot on business. And one time he told me that he used to see Robin in the airport all the time (I think I liked Robin more than Batman…). One time, right before my fourth birthday, my dad told me that he saw Robin at the airport and invited him to my birthday party! And HOLY SMOKES! he said he’s come!! Now, I’m sure my dad got an emotional beating from my mom for promising something so impossible. A few days before my party, I received a letter from Robin (which when I found the letter years later I realized was on my mom’s letterhead in her handwriting… sneaky lady) letting me know that he was really sorry, but he was SWAMPED fighting crime in Gotham City and just wouldn’t be able to make it. He hoped I would forgive him.
