My friend Petra just got engaged (OMG! CONGRATS!) and last night, she was telling a bunch of us the story of the proposal. Yesterday, in the midst of my commute to 4th of July festivities/activities, someone pulled the emergency brake on the L train. The train was stalled, powered off, somewhere under the East River for about 20 minutes. During that internally frantic timeframe in the dark, I grew to 100% understand claustrophobia.
